Mr. Simmons has focused on the fast-paced legal areas supporting businesses and invention. He has worked with a variety of businesses on strategic development and licensing of intellectual property portfolios including patents, trademarks, and trade secrets. He has also provided for various business needs including entity formation, financing, and contract drafting and negotiation. Mr. Simmons earned his Juris Doctorate from the University of Colorado School of Law in Boulder, Colorado, where he participated in the Entrepreneurial Law Clinic and earned a certificate in Entrepreneurial Law, demonstrating his commitment to understanding the complex needs of today’s emerging businesses.
Prior to embarking on his legal career, Mr. Simmons worked as a Developmental Neurobiologist at Vanderbilt University, where he earned his Masters degree. This experience has endowed him with insight into the scientific process and the issues surrounding invention in the lab and in academic institutions. This has been of particular benefit to clients working in the life sciences as well as those working with Tech Transfer offices.
Mr. Simmons earned his J.D. from the University of Colorado School of Law, his Masters in Biology from Vanderbilt University, and his B.S. in Molecular Genetics from the Ohio State University.
